Bodrum, the ancient Halicarnassus, is situated on a
peninsula facing the island of Kos and is the hometown of Herodotus,
known as the 'Father of History'.
This is where the blue cruise originated and is a great
starting point for a journey along the Carian coast which offers a
legacy of mythology and ancient history, and breathtaking scenery laced
with sandy beaches, rocky coves and inlets.
The town itself is considered the hotspot of the south
west coast and attracts a cosmopolitan visitor ship every year.
The restaurants, bars and nightlife are a major
attraction while an artisitic and intellectual community also thrives
in the Bodrum area.
The Castle of St Peter is the landmark of the town
situated at the centre of the two cresent bays that form the natural
harbour.
With its characteristic white washed houses, a network
of narrow old streets to explore in the town centre, a busy
harbour and 5 star marina, Bodrum is a vibrant and increasingly
fashionable
Turkish town. Scattering the peninsula are a handful of
relaxed coastal villages rich with orange, mandarin and olive groves.
Each with its unique character but all with fantastic beaches and
spectacular natural surroundings in common.
