Originally, Marmaris was the seaport town of Caria,
located at the crossroads to Anatolia, Rhodes and Egypt. Marmaris is
home to one of the largest natural marinas in the Mediterranean. As a
busy yachting centre, the Netsel Marina has been developed to
accommodate a huge number of yachts from all over the world.
The town itself, with its long palm lined promenade, is
lively and a very popular holiday destination. Local villages such as
Bozburun, Selimiye and Orhaniye are laid back and peaceful spots;
everyone's idea of the idyllic mediterranean getaway. Marmaris, where
the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas meet, is an excellent starting point
for a Blue Voyage located between Bodrum, the Gokova Gulf and Fethiye.
To the north west of Marmaris, The beautiful Gokova Gulf is of
particular interest for Blue Cruisers.
The area is spectacularly green and lush, the coastline
lined with pine covered mountains and sandy beaches. There views here
are unforgettable.
